The BIG Idea Competition is offered at no cost to schools and students. The program is powered by organizations and people like you who see the value in educating young people about the world of business and how that might fit into their future. The BIG Idea Competition is operated by BIG Idea, Inc., a 501(c)3 non profit organization.
Together we have reached over 5,000 students in nearly 250 schools in South Dakota and 17 other states. Some of these students are still operating their business, while others took what they learned from BIG Idea and started a business after continued education and experience. Nearly 65% of students report an increased interest in starting a business after participating in the BIG Idea Competition. Your donation will help support future competitions to provide this experience for the next generation of students.
BIG Idea is also powered by a lot of volunteers.
Each year, we have about 300 people participate at first round judges by giving 1-2 hours of their time to give feedback to students on their entires through our online juding platform. We also pair the eight finalists with mentors to give them feedback on their presentation, discuss how to move their business forward or even talk about career paths and opportunities. Lastly we have volunteers to help organize the competition and the final event.
